Your music stays yours
Saving a record does not give Release Rights ownership of your music or a share of your royalties.
YOUR INFORMATION. CLEARLY EXPLAINED.
How information moves through the directory, release records, invitations and agreed split sheets.
Updated 20 October 2026 · Version 6
Saving a record does not give Release Rights ownership of your music or a share of your royalties.
Directory discovery is separate from access to songs, splits, agreements and signing records.
After invitation, your personal details are managed by you. Roles and splits are agreed for each song.
Release Rights uses entered information to organise credits, splits, ownership records, registrations and reviews for specific releases and songs. You keep your music rights. Creating a record or downloading a split sheet does not transfer copyright to Release Rights, appoint a publisher, register a song or collect royalties.
The service is separate from Spotify, PRS for Music, distributors and collecting societies. Links and identifiers help you prepare your own records; they are not an automatic data feed or an endorsement.
The global directory reuses basic people records so you can find an existing artist, collaborator or manager rather than create duplicates. Basic names and roles can be searchable before a person verifies an account. The directory can match an exact known email. A saved account profile shares its account email with signed-in directory users by default for release invitations; private contact details from another creator’s records are not published. Songs, percentages, agreement references and signing history are not directory search fields or results.
My details controls optional full-profile sharing. Turning it off leaves your names, roles and invitation email available to signed-in directory users; contact us to object to or restrict that listing. A blue tick means email verified. It is not proof of legal identity, ownership, professional qualifications or signing authority.
| Record | How control works |
|---|---|
| New contributor identity | The creator can maintain a new, unclaimed entry before handover. |
| Invited or account-owned identity | Creating the person’s invitation hands control of their personal profile to them; verification is not the handover trigger. Existing account-owned profiles are also protected. Revoking release access does not hand their identity back to the creator. |
| Song roles and splits | Authorised participants record the part played on that song and the agreed allocations. A profile can list several professional roles without all of them applying to every song. |
| Manager authority | Finding or selecting a manager does not grant access or signing authority. Representation requires the relevant artist’s authorisation for the specified songs and permissions. |
| Agreed or released versions | Historical names, signatures and versions remain attached to the record. A later profile correction can update drafts without silently rewriting earlier evidence. |
Invitations and notifications use the address entered for that person and the relevant release, song or review context. Messages may identify the song and the action needed. Where an extract is person-specific, it is limited to that person and any explicitly included context. Notification does not itself grant signing or manager authority.
Automatic draft saving is different from notifying people. A notified badge relates to the recorded notification state for that version and section. Further changes can make notification necessary again. A missing email remains not notified; the service does not invent an address or require everyone to share an email just to be credited. Email acceptance or delivery is not proof that a person has read or agreed to the record.
External sharing is optional and separate from split sign-off. The release creator can save a membership identifier and authorise specific composition or masters records for a particular release and partner. A saved preference does not verify membership or connect an account: the partner must confirm a supported connection before delivery.
Where connected and authorised, we send only the selected current approved record: release and song identifiers, names, percentages, applicable society / IPI / publisher details, agreement references and relevant sign-off names, capacity and timestamps. This integration does not send contributor emails, private notes, passwords, invitation links or full contract files. Delivery attempts, partner references and responses are recorded. Received and accepted are different statuses; neither alone proves registration.
Revocation stops future deliveries but cannot recall records already received or an in-flight request. A partner handles received information under its own terms and privacy policy. Changes to the approved record must pass a new review before an updated version can sync.
Topic buttons open guidance from our help library. When AI chat is enabled, the question and recent chat you submit, plus the selected song title and your own linked roles, recorded percentages and publisher / society entries, are sent to OpenAI. Access is checked for that release and song. Other contributors’ details, agreements and royalty balances are excluded. It cannot edit records, notify people, register works or decide ownership. Keep questions general and check important decisions against your agreements and official guidance. Read how helper data is handled.
Tell people when you add their information and share the Privacy policy with them. Use accurate names and relevant professional details. Do not enter another person’s bank information, account password, recovery key, identity-document copy or unnecessary sensitive personal information.
Give each person the access they need for the relevant songs. Do not use a directory result to impersonate a person, sign for them, scrape personal data or send unsolicited marketing. Keep private invitation links and downloaded documents secure. Participants are responsible for the accuracy and authority behind their entries and for their own copies.
A name correction does not decide a disputed share. Use the recorded review and agreement process for changes to splits or authority, and keep the underlying supporting documents.
For a profile correction, start with My details. For questions about a private release record, ask its creator or the relevant participant. For access, erasure, an objection to directory discovery or another privacy concern, Submit a privacy request. No account or email inbox is needed: save the private tracking link to read our response. Never send a password, recovery key, bank details or identity document through the form.
The Privacy policy explains retention, suppliers, security and your rights. A deletion request is reviewed in context because shared credits and signed records can involve other people’s rights.
